Meeting the Headway East London Community

Headway East London is an incredible organisation which supports people with brain injuries.

Mathilda and I were invited to their site in Haggerston to meet and to distribute some of the letters from the Ministry of Loneliness project.

We met with the head team, Cristina, Bryn and Bob and were so humbled by the incredibling welcoming community. Headway also produce ‘Matter’ a magazine produced by members of the community and talks about living with brain injury.

The best part of the visit was visiting the community art studio.  It was incredible to hear the artists talk about their lives and how it has enabled to adjust to living with brain injury. Some of the work was going to be featured at Autograph gallery in early March.

It was inncredible to see the transformative power that art can bring, and the time and effort of all the volunteers and members of the community who enabled this to happen. We met many artists in the space, including Cecil, who comes to the studio everyday and welcomed us to the space by showing us his work.

We are arranging some project with Headway East London later on in the year – keep an eye out for anything coming up soon!

Please donate to this wonderful charity if you can.
